Manager, Operational Risk Management, Policy and Governance | American Express | New York, NY
The mission of Operational Risk Services is to drive
operational risk governance at American Express. Through a collaborative
partnership with the business, ORS provides operational risk guidance
and oversight through the design, implementation and ongoing management
of the Company's Operational Risk Framework.
The main areas of responsibility for this position include:
1. Support and drive operational risk awareness within the Company
through structured initiatives
2. Develop operational risk-related policy, and support the
identification, analysis and alignment of existing related policy within
the Company and business units
3. Support existing operational risk initiatives, particularly the
Entity Risk Self Assessment (ERSA) approach to analyzing business unit
and staff group risk
4. Coordinate specific ERSA activities, including planning, logistics,
business leader interviews, data analysis and reporting
5. Provide communication and intranet-web support by updating and
maintaining web content for Operational Risk Services customer base and
staff
6. Prepare and support the delivery of various operational risk
presentations and training materials
While the organization is growing, the individual may also have
responsibility for supporting the:
7. Design and implementation of ongoing Risk Analytics (e.g. top risks
across the company, emerging risk trends),
8. Evaluation of trends from other sources and business areas
9. Design of Operational Risk Dashboards and the identification of Key
Risk Indicators for American Express and individual business units and
staff functions

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications:
- Three to five years of related experience
- Experience in operational risk management and internal control
- Good relationship management skills and the ability to work
effectively with other operational risk groups or programs
- Strong written communication skills
- Results focus with emphasis on efficiency and effectiveness
- Project management experience ability to deploy and implement
complex programs
- Detail oriented, adaptable and highly motivated
- BA or BS in Finance, Business, or equivalent degree required
- Occasional travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced/Graduate degree in related field
- Strong thought leadership necessary in identifying risk
trends, key risk indicators
- Proven advanced capabilities in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and
Project
